13th UEFA Champions League trophy to be urgently flown into Melbourne

A 13th UEFA Champions League trophy will be urgently flown into Melbourne to feature in the Real Madrid World of Football Experience, following Real Madrid C.F.’s record 13th European club championship in Kiev, Ukraine, early this morning Australian time.

Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the 2018 UEFA Champions League Final, extending Real’s prodigious lead as the most successful club in world football.

The stunning third consecutive Champions League victory has sparked multiple last-minute changes to the exhibition’s audio visual content and trophy displays. The producers are set to work around the clock to update the Real Madrid World of Football Experience in time for the opening to the Australian public on 9 June.

The trophy display, accompanied by a spectacular audio-visual production, will be one of the features of the massive 1,600 sqm touring pavilion, providing unique physical and digital interactive experiences for football fans.

“The Real Madrid World of Football Experience captures over 116 years of sporting history, but what we saw this morning was Real Madrid C.F writing more stunning history before our eyes,” said Tony Cochrane, Founding Director of iEC Exhibitions!, the producer of the exhibition, in partnership with TEG.

“We have carefully designed and constructed the Experience over the past 18 months in conjunction with the club, but now we have just over a fortnight to incorporate their 13th European championship into the show. It’s a nice problem to have!”

Geoff Jones, CEO of TEG, Australasia’s leading ticketing, live entertainment and data analytics company, said: “Real’s victory underlines the greatness of this club. There is no peer when it comes to sustained excellence and the collection of the biggest trophies in world football.

“The success in Kiev adds a new halo over the Real Madrid World of Football Experience and can only add to the great story we have for football fans.”

The Real Madrid World of Football Experience includes an immersive 360˚ cinematic match day experience, an EA Sports FIFA Arena, a stunning collection of their most famous trophies and historical memorabilia and a football skills arena where visitors can compare themselves to the team.

Melbourne will be the first city in the world to experience the new, state-of-the-art, touring football experience and exhibition about the greatest football club on Earth.

Real Madrid, honoured by FIFA as the Best Club of the 20th Century, has won a record 33 Spanish Club Championships in addition to the record 13 European crowns.
